Program Description The art appreciation and art history components in the Art Department are intended to fulfill the course requirements of art majors and humanities majors and to serve as electives that compliment the programs of study of other majors in the University. The art history courses range from a broad survey of art in human cultures from pre-history to the end of the gothic era in the West to more focused classes such as the art of the twentieth century or art in the United States.
